May, 1997, to July, 2001.		 Attorney in the Special Litigation and Support Unit. Handled impact housing cases at the trial and appellate levels. Conducted a two-week jury trial involving the firebombing of the house of an African-American family and the public housing authority's refusal to relocate them to a safer neighborhood.

NOTED CASES
  • Stevens v. Califano (U.S.D.C. N.D.Ohio) (co-counsel). Obtained judgment that federal benefit program and 42 U.S.C. 607 were unconstitutional because of sex discrimination. Affirmed by U.S. Supreme Court in Califano v. Westcott, 443 U.S. 76.
  • Prevo v. National Corporation for Housing partnerships (U.S.D.C. N.D.Ohio). Established due process right to "good cause" eviction in Section 236 federally subsidized private housing project.
  • Kimble v. Kimble, 2002-Ohio 6667. Established the right to receive continued spousal support after remarriage of the obligee, overruling prior Ohio Supreme Court precedent.
  • State, ex rel. Ventrone, v. Birkel, 54 Ohio St.2d 461. Obtained writ of mandamus ordering Summit County to pay general relief benefits in an amount sufficient to maintain health and decency of recipients; affirmed by Ohio Supreme Court.
